This happened in 2008, but the lesson is still fresh in my mind and something clicked it to make me write the post. Wow, $23 a day in Europe? that is wayyyyyyy cool Oh, BTW, if I failed to mention it, the Bum phase only lasted less than 24 hours. I'm very sorry to hear about your struggles, but wish you well on your journey. We have been living the nomad life as a family since 2006 and find it hard to believe that we will soon start our 5th year of a non-stop, open ended world tour. Time goes by quickly. We travel the world on very little ( just 23 dollars a day per person even in "expensive" Europe and could do it on less) and I had a brother that did it for years on absolutely nothing. ( He walked, rode a bike, hopped trains, etc). But I'm in my 50's too and I can tell you it is important at that age to have a cushion, so I hope you have worked things out with your wife and have a more equitable arrangement now or will soon. Just because you left in a huff after an argument, doesn't mean you should end it all so unfairly. You have a right to a fair share of your money if you built it together, so why give it all away? We've had a few health crisis on the road, ( despite being healthy) so that is something to keep in mind when you do this kind of thing in your 50's compared to someone doing it in their 20's. There is more to maintain and health is the most important key to it all. Yes, 20 somethings can have them too, but for most people health issues become a greater concern after 50. Good luck with your journey! Oh yes, watching one’s words and thoughts are so important and I teach my daughter this as it is important to learn early.

My mom taught me "the secret to the Secret" before there WAS "The Secret." She just knew it intuitively. Funny, though, how hard it is to BELIEVE in the notion that your subconscious can't tell fantasy from reality, and make it stick. This is so true!
