I awakened this morning from a dream with the following words being said:
“Trust me has seven letters in it.”
I immediately got up to write my morning pages.
Trust has been an issue that has surfaced lately in my morning pages, more accurately self trust has been the issue.
Trusting oneself is probably the hardest thing a Present Day Nomad will have to learn, if it is not already a part of his or her psyche.
We live in a society in which we have been taught and encouraged not to trust our innate self, to give into to social demands whenever there is a conflict between what the inner self says and what the society tells us to do.
But all successful people, and all entrepreneurs will tell us that self-trust is the key to success, when it comes to choosing between what you think and feel, and what the societal norms dictate.
I have been struggling with my own self-trust issues when writing for the blog and that is why I have not made a post in a while, but I knew that this will be the post this morning as soon as I awoke from my dream. I did hesitate before starting the post, but eventually gave into my inner knowing, or I should say decided to trust myself with it.
I have been reading Gary Vaynerchuk’s book Crush it! and going to write a review of it on Monday with a surprise for my readers. One of the things that Gary says about blogging is to choose your media to match your DNA, and I have been giving it a lot of thought.
While I know, and have been told, that I write well and communicate effectively in written form, it is not the most effective way for me to communicate. I don’t like to sit and write. I can’t don’t type very well or very fast and it is a chore for me write. As such I don’t get around to making the posts I want to when I am inspired to do so, and I miss out on communicating a lot of things that I am eager to communicate, things that I am passionate about.
My choice of media, when communicating, is public speaking, or audio format. When I speak in front of a group, I am not usually very animated or high energy as Gary is. I am very relaxed and laid back. So audio is the best match for my DNA. I am going to be experimenting with doing some audio and video posts soon, in addition to the usual written posts to see how my audience responds to it and how I feel about it myself.
So, while I have decided to follow my instincts, or rather my intuition, on this, I will be relying on you to provide me effective feedback as well. But I know, that in the end I am going to go with what gives me the most pleasure, because if I don’t enjoy communicating, you won’t enjoy the message either.
Trust Me!

Good morning Rasheed. I am a new follower and want to be a Present Day Nomad. What a great concept! I have enjoyed reading your other posts.
I am currently struggling for my voice and have never heard of Crush It! I will look into it, as I enjoy the concept of choosing your media to match your DNA. Interesting for sure.
Intuition is the only tool, I believe to find your true self. Your soul is this true self. Go with your gut – or should I say your dreams? Your intuition is speaking to you through your dreams. Your inner self is trying to express itself. I can’t wait to see what you come up with.
Trust it,
Elle
Hey Elle,
Welcome to my world and my blog.
Thank you for your kind words. Crush It! is a new book, and I had not heard of Gary Vanderchuck (on Twitter @garyvee) until recently. I had the pleasure of meeting him in Austin at book signing, when I drove up there to get a copy of his book autographed for one Present Day Nomad. oops… did I let the cat out of the bag?
Hang tight. I’ll have my review up soon.
Hi Rasheed I am not the computer know it all but I have heard there is a program where you can speak and the computer will write it for you????? THANKS FOR YOUR WRITING VERY POSITIVE ..
Hey Carol,
Welcome to my blog, I know you have been reading it and leaving me comments on Facebook, but it is good to see you here.
Hey that is a great idea about having the computer do the writing. Then all I have to do is edit. Hmmm…. I still like the idea of doing audio posts because there is so much more to communication than just words, but it does make the chore of writing easier. Thanks for the suggestion, sis.
Rasheed
All I can add to this is:
Live one day at a time, each step you take creates the path of the future for you.
You need to get a video camera and record your musings and then post them.
Do what works for you. Gary dictated that whole book to a ghost writer he hired. He doesn’t write well, and readily admits it. Looking forward to your review and audio posts.
Hey James,
Welcome to Present Day Nomads and thanks for your comments. Definitely appreciate it.
Rasheed
Keep on writing Sir until an opportunity presents itself that favors your passion. In pursuing our dreams we sometimes need to be out of line until we find the right way. By analogy, we must first be a dish washer before we can become a restaurant manager.

Walter´s last [post] ..Illusions we hold dear
Wow that does make since. Now I understand why so many people Feed Fear.
I have an almost vain trust in myself. I know that I will get it done or I will die trying. So the Self Trust is immense. Now I understand why I have success where so many others do not.
Interesting. I have complained many, many times in my life that this is all on me. I can never seem to find anyone that can pull half of my weight. Thus the reason I have so few employees.
Maybe I do not need to change the way I look for people, I need to find those that trust their selves, and not just me.
Thanks
