This has been a long time coming.
When the pressure builds up beyond capacity, an explosion is inevitable.
I have been putting off pursuing a life of passion, which includes helping others do the same, for way too long. I’ve promised myself too many times that I will do it. I’ve made commitments (or so I thought). But it wasn’t until a couple of days ago that the barometer hit the limit.
There have been quiet a few ‘co-incidences’ lately that have led to this point of Know Return (with apologies to Kansas).
Two days ago, I read a post by Barbara Winter, one of my mentors, whom I had interviewed to launch this blog, that talked about commitment. It just so happens that a few days earlier I had posted my favorite quote on commitment here.
Barbara was straight forward and blunt in her assertion that either you are committed or you’re not, and offered a simple test for you to determine for yourself whether or not you’re committed. She tactfully told her readers to put their money where their mouth is.
(The first book I bought to pursue my dream, many many moons ago, was titled Put your money where your mouth is: How to make a living with public speaking. Another co-incident?)
Then she offered a simple solution. She introduced the idea of making “a temporary permanent commitment,” as suggested by the best selling author Barbara Sher.
“When we make a temporary permanent commitment, we give it our all for a limited period of time. I like the idea of dividing our dreams into 90 Day Projects where we focus on making progress in small, manageable ways day after day. During this time, immerse—don’t dabble. Treat it as a permanent commitment. At the end of the 90 days, take inventory. Want to keep going? Or have you had enough? If the answer is, “I’ve had enough,” then design projects for the next 90 days. And so on and so on and so on.”
So I spent a day immersing myself in the thought.
Early next morning, as I did my Morning Pages, the idea of “Passionate Pursuit to Create Colossal Change” emerged. It was an invigorating thought. I took some rapid notes on ideas brimming through my mind in the wee hours of the morning.
As I counted the days left till the end of the year, I made a commitment to live the remaining 77 days in the Passionate Pursuit of creating a business model for me to use, by creating colossal changes in my personal and professional life.
Radical ideas call for radical action, and radical actions are bound to produce radical change.
I will be taking detailed notes of what I am doing and how it is impacting my thoughts, behavior and actions, and what kind of change is coming about as a result. I will be sharing some of these here on this blog over the next 77 days and at the end of the 77 days, I intend to compile my findings in a report to share with my readers.
Here are some of the radical but measurable changes that I am shooting for.
1. I will double my income over the previous 77 days.
2. I will drop 32 pounds of excess weight (going from 182 to 150) in the next 16 days and maintain it for the remaining 61 days. (In reality, for good)
3. I will reduce my waist size from 36″ to 30″
4. I shall be able to perform 77 push ups and 77 squats on a regular basis.
5. I will walk for 77 minutes for the next 77 days, rain or shine. Then continue it forever.
I am determined to bring about a positive and desirable change in my life that is long overdue, and as I do it, I intend to document the journey to share with others, as well as develop a prototype, a step by step plan, for others to use in creating radical changes in their lives and business.

A big Whoo Hoo from your cheering section. I am so excited for you!
Thanks, Cathy
I am looking forward to some radical results.

Way to go, Rasheed. And just what I needed to hear, as my motivation has been a little low lately.
Thanks for the support, Shannon.
Glad I can provide a little kick in the pants for you.
Rasheed
I will watch with interest Rasheed. Good Luck
Croz,
I find your cautious optimism very encouraging. Thanks!
Rasheed
Hi Rasheed,
Please be careful, about rushing weigh loss. I think you can clean up your diet and do those planned exercises, but don’t put too much pressure on yourself about the weight. It will reduce naturally if you do that exercise and a good diet.
Gordie Rogers´s last [post] ..Is There Anything That’s Unforgivable? Part 1.
Hey Gordie,
I understand what you are saying, and trust me, I have no intention of putting myself in a dangerous situation just to prove a point. I have a plan that includes safety measures. Like I said, I am trying Radical Changes, or I should say, what is traditionally considered radical. I will report on what I did and the results at the end of 16 day period.
Thanks for the support and concern. Can’t wait for the part 2 of your forgiveness post.
Oftentimes, when want to make changes in our life, our first enemy is our own self. Unconsciously, we resist change because it carries with it our expulsion from our comfort zones. It takes will and courage to face this negative habit of ours.
I believe you can achieve it, and when your mind tells to give up, let it stay on your mind and never allow it to manifest in your actions.
Walter,
Thanks for the for the words of wisdom. You are right about resistance against getting out of the comfort zone. For me, gradual change is not very effective because I have a very BIG comfort zone. I have to blast myself out of it. BLAST also has a different meaning for me, and I think I will blog about that soon.
Welcome to my World!
Rasheed
I am looking forward to your journals over the next 77 days. I am a firm believer in writing down goals and making them public. It just seems to help with sticking to the commitment. God luck and congratulations on living your life the way you want.

Thank you both, for your ongoing support and encouragement. I am also looking forward to reading your account of your journey. Let me know when you get to India. If you do nothing else, ride the train from one city to another. It is an experience you’ll never get anywhere else.
And oh, if you make it to my hometown of Hyderabad, make sure to visit the Historical Gol Kunda fort. I remember, sitting on the “throne” at the top as a young child of 10 or 11.

Nicely written, Rasheed. I like this idea about breaking things down into 90 day tests of passion. I think, in a way, I’ve been doing that for awhile, but never thought of it in that way. I wish you great success on this new journey, and I also will be interested in seeing how you feel it goes over time.
Thanks, Mitch
I will be doing a lot of posting over the next 10 weeks keeping everyone updated and sharing thoughts as they pop into my head demanding to be shared.
Maybe we can connect later offline and talk some more about this, since you are going through the same line of thinking.
Rasheed
Hi Rasheed, wow! These are some super goals! “Passionate Pursuit”… I like that. I think the 90 day assessment is wise advice. I’m looking forward to the updates on how your 77 days are going!
Cheers,

Miche
