Destiny: Is it Fate or Choice?

crossroadsWe are destined to meet our destiny. But what is our destiny?

Better yet, what is “destiny”?

Destiny is derived from the root word “destine” which means “to set or appoint to a purpose; to design.” Destiny, therefore, is the end result of such setting or appointment with a purpose. Destiny is the life we have designed.

Some people have the notion that destiny is some sort of a pre-determined fate that they have no control over whatsoever. I beg to differ with that viewpoint. I firmly believe that we control, no, we design our own destiny. You see, we have been given a choice by our Creator to live our life the way we see fit. That is not to say that we have absolute control over ALL our actions. The Creator, who is also the Guide, has set some guidelines for us to live our lives by. These are the Natural Laws. He has given us the choice to follow these laws or not to follow them, explaining in full the consequences of our actions, regardless of what they may be.

In other words, we have been put at a crossroads, and we must decide which road to take. Whichever road we take, it will bring us to another crossroads, and then another and yet another. Life goes on, the journey continues and through our decisions along that journey, we design and re-design our destiny. As Led Zeppelin so aptly put it, “And in the long run, there’s always time to change the road you’re on.”

What road are you taking?

Are you designing your life with conscious choice…

… or by default?

Is it time to change the road you’re on?

I think we all have the choice to follow whatever path we choose. However, success can also depend on many outside, uncontrollable factors. It’s a matter of whether or not you can take advantage of whatever business or opportunity that is ‘hitting’ at that moment.

I agree with what you’re saying, Dave

The outside circumstances, the uncontrollable factors is what I call standing at the crossroads. Our decisions, and the resulting in our taking advantage of the opportunities, or not, will create new “outside” circustnaces that will determine our next crossroad.
