One of the things that I am loving the most about this Location Independent and Nomadic Lifestyle is the ability to take off and go places whenever I choose to. This is Awesome!!
Just last week, when I picked up my son from Lone Star College, where he is taking dual credit classes, he asked, “Can we go somewhere?”
I asked him where he wanted to go and his response was, “I don’t know, Somewhere.” He is sixteen, what do you expect?
So I called my wife and told her not to expect us home until late that night and headed north along Interstate 45, since that was the direction we were travelling at the time. He has never been to Dallas, so I asked him if wanted to go to a city or spend time in Nature. I guess he must have inherited some nomadic genes from somewhere, because all he wanted to know was, “Can we do both?” Well, we’ll see what we can do.
We drove up to the Huntsville State Park and went hiking along one of the

nature trails, did some photography and had ourselves some good ole quality time together. The original intent was to spend an hour in the park and then head for Dallas. Four hours later, we were looking for a place to have some lunch near the park. An hour later we stopped in Maddisonville to get some chicken.
Lunch lasted another two hours while we talked about Aerosmith, Sigmund Freud and nomadic lifestyle. I told him about Chris Dunphy and Cherie VeArd of Technomadia, and how they were traveling across the country, working from their solar powered trailer, which was towed by a Jeep with two bicycles on top. His reaction? “You mean, not having a place to live is not just for homeless anymore?”
By this time we realized that if we were to go to Dallas, we wouldn’t have any time to spend there and be back in Houston at a decent hour. Dallas will just have to wait for another time.
As we headed back towards home, my friend Noor called. He has to go to Dallas for a damned business meeting next Tuesday and wanted to know if I would mind keeping him company on his trip to Dallas?
Would I mind?
As for my son, he’ll just have to wait till next month to see Dallas when we head off to Yellowstone National Park. He has waited three years to make that trip.

We tend to take a lot of spur of the moment vacations. When the feeling hits us, we take off somewhere. Sometimes far away, sometimes a quick overnight trip just to get away. I think it is important to be spontaneous in life. Good for you!

PS: I’ll be sending you an email in a couple of days.
How awesome that you got to introduce your son into a snap shot of nomadic serendipity. It’s darn addictive
And we’re very honored that talking about us was part of it, thank you.
What a wonderful bonding experience with your son too.. so glad you got a chance to take it.

PS. Those aren’t bikes on top, those are the landing gear to Chris’ paramotor
Our interview questions should be inbound later this week. We’ve been taking spontaneous meandering this week through the Appalachians, and unfortunately, have had little cell signal.
Great Story Rasheed
The ability to let go and be spontanious is a very special state of mind. ENJOY!!!!
